Kliff Kingsbury Reveals How Dan Quinn Helps Offense
USA Today

The Washington Commanders hired offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to work under new head coach Dan Quinn, but the process may be more collaborative than expected.

Kingsbury recently shared how he expects his relationship with Quinn to impact his offensive playcalling in Washington next season.

“Yeah, as much as he, he wants to be, you know, he's the head coach, and so however he wants to do it, we're gonna do it that way," Kingsbury said about collaborating with Quinn. "I understand that, he understands that, and so as much input as we can get from him, the better. I mean, he's the guy who can tell us, ‘Hey, this is what the defense is trying to do, see it from a different point of view than us, and so I'm excited to work with him from that angle, and you know, see what we're gonna take this.”

Before joining the Commanders, Quinn established himself as one of the best defensive minds in all of football, both during his days as the Atlanta Falcons head coach and during his tenure as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator.

As for Kingsbury, he too has head coaching experience in the NFL from his time with the Arizona Cardinals. This could make teaming up with Quinn a sensational combination, considering the different perspectives both will bring to the team.

One head coaching combo that comes to mind in recent years as having elevated a losing team to championship level is when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had quarterback guru Bruce Arians as the head coach and former New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles as defensive coordinator to help win the team its 2020 Super Bowl Trophy.

If Quinn, as a defensive mind, and Kingsbury, as a quarterback savant, can find similar success in Washington, then the Commanders' fans will be thrilled for the franchise's future.

Now, all that's left to do is wait and see what players Kingsbury and Quinn will bring in during this offseason to improve Washington's chances at making the playoffs and contending again.
