George Karl Takes Shots At LeBron James, Anthony Davis, And The Lakers
David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Former Nuggets coach George Karl continued his trademark criticism of the Los Angeles Lakers on social media last night, launching a series of tweets against LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the historic franchise.

Tired of constant media takes on the Cowboys and Lakers. Both organizations are barely relevant. They get so much coverage because they are highly valued with large fan bases. Not because they are championship contending teams!!

I’ll give the Lakers coaching search committee free advice today - LeBron isn’t a superstar anymore and AD will never be one. Now be sure to use those Truths when evaluating candidates and u might select someone u keep for longer than two szns!

Wait, there are actual living people who believe LeBron is a superstar still today?!

Karl has famously been critical of the Lakers on numerous occasions, with this rant being the latest in a long line of bold, provocative comments against the 17-time NBA champions. Specifically, he has focused much of his criticism on the Lakers' two superstars, LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

While Karl is very active on social media and constantly shares his thoughts on the state of the NBA as a whole, and particular teams that interest him, he spends much of his time on social media talking about the Lakers, mostly in a very negative light. Of course, this is not the first time George Karl has aimed at the Los Angeles Lakers.

George Karl Has A Bad History With The Lakers

Much like his comments above, he shot at Anthony Davis last month and mocked his inclusion in the NBA Top 75 all-time list.

It seems George Karl is focused on the Lakers most of the time, being very critical of the franchise from both a roster and organizational standpoint. He recently claimed that the Lakers have been an unstable organization for the last 15 years, and their 2020 NBA championship win in the bubble did not count.

Lakers fans did not take kindly to this and have mocked the former Sonics and Nuggets coach on social media. Not one to back down, Karl retorted to the fans' trolling by showing off his accolades, such as his Hall of Fame induction, his successful bouts against cancer, and his 1200-win record in the NBA.

Some fans have speculated that Karl's bitterness towards the Lakers stems from his 2009 Western Conference Finals loss against the franchise. His Nuggets, led by Carmelo Anthony, came up short against the Lakers in 6 games, who went on to win the NBA championship that same season.

Karl had coached the Nuggets to a stellar season and could have earned a chance at winning an NBA championship, were it not for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. Perhaps that loss still stings for Karl and is the reason behind him constantly taking shots at the Lakers.
